I did notice that most of the missionaries wear Sunday dress and (strange to me) "Sandals".Clydehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06479775836813028991noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3707284941047066928.post-10371601153775738682016-03-16T13:13:54.641-06:002016-03-16T13:13:54.641-06:00The distance from Tarawa to Christmas Island is ab...The distance from Tarawa to Christmas Island is about 2000 miles. The area that Kiribati covers is almost the size of the lower 48 states of the US, but most of it is water. There are no direct flights between the islands so they have to fly through Fiji. It makes transfers a pretty crazy, and expensive, thing for the mission.Johnson Familyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08438007886743651510noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3707284941047066928.post-7662287170523755132016-03-16T12:51:48.504-06:002016-03-16T12:51:48.504-06:00Thanks Susie, he is starting to like it so much, w...Thanks Susie, he is starting to like it so much, we worry he won't want to come back!Johnson Familyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08438007886743651510noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3707284941047066928.post-8011185631524972072016-03-16T12:48:15.644-06:002016-03-16T12:48:15.644-06:00Further confusion on my part. Fiji is about (800 miles distant) 1/3 of the way to Christmas Island on the other side of Indonesia ? Kiritimati (Christmas Island) can only be 10 miles from any place in Kiribati. It is on the far Eastern side of the nation in the Line Islands. It is also called Kiritimati. What confuses me is how Christmas Island was placed in the Kiribati Mission. If I am correct, Christmas Island is on the opposite side of the Philippine Islands.Clydehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06479775836813028991noreply@blogger.com
